Abstract Artist Promotional Materials

Here are the items that I send with my paintings when I ship. I think this is an important little step that in the scheme of things doesn’t cost very much to do. I hope that my collectors like opening these packages as much as I like sending them.

Two business cards. Why two? Because in my mind, when a collector hosts a guest in their home, the guest says, “Wow! I love that painting!” and my collector says, “Thank you! Here is the artist’s business card!” These cards cost forty-two cents each.. I have to do it.

Two Artist Statement Cards: Two? Yes..hopefully one gets passed to a new potential customer. I like these 5x7 cards in gloss. I print a selection of paintings and a brief bio on the reverse.

A free, bonus note card. This idea was born because I had some extras left over from an art fair once. These Strathmore blank notes are nice and affordable. I make color photo prints of my artwork in 4x5”. I choose a soft lustre finish and then all you need is some double sided tape. A collection of these in a cello-bag are a great little package to sell at your booth, and one of the cards tucked into your promotional package is really nice. Clients can use the card to send their own mail. Sign the front of the card or write your website small, on the back. The little photo prints can be purchased anyplace that you order photos from. Look for a mom and pop shop in your area, I am sure they would love to see you! (Pro-tip: When selling an assortment of these packed together, print a little “contents” paper and tuck it in the back so that customers can see the images that are in the card set.

A handwritten thank you note. I hope this goes without saying. Get yourself some boxed thank you cards and always include a note to your collectors. I always write a few lines including the date and the title of the painting.
