Are you stuck on a painting and you don't know what to do next?

That’s my jam. I can help! It’s one of the most frequently asked questions in my teaching network. Students post their progress photos and mention that they don’t know what to do next. To help encourage learning and bridge the gap between this problem and painting completion, I have devised 8 simple steps that you can follow to create complex abstract paintings.

I recognize that no two abstract paintings will look the same. I recognize that every artist will have their own taste and style. The steps I developed are open to interpretation. They can be completed in any order, repeated throughout the course of one painting and followed frontward and backwards!

Ive been using some variations of this process for many years. The idea of writing them out and putting them in order is new! When you see the steps, you can notice them in almost every painting I create.

The “Caught Up in the Layers” workshop is one way to learn the process. The online workshop is now open for immediate download. If you just want to dip your big toe into the process, I also wrote a book on the process that I am self publishing. You can order a copy by following this link. The publisher is now handling all of the book distribution, world wide.
