Here is what I mean about your OWN creative voice..
I’ve always thought there was tremendous value in helping art students develop their own creative voice rather than my voice. My online art workshops feature the techniques that you can learn to apply to your own practice. I encourage students to decide if they want to copy my class samples step by step or watch the video, then apply the steps to their own paintings. It is possible to learn either way!
A year or so ago, I combined the private facebook groups that I had for my workshops all into one larger group. Selfishly, I did this so that I could take a break from potentially repeating the same information, and checking a gazillion groups every day.. but I also thought that it would be awesome for students across all of my workshops to benefit from all of the questions and answers across the span of all of the workshop topics. I couldn’t be happier!
Kim Sanderson is a new student who has enrolled in my Expressionism Vol 2 online workshop. She writes:
Before I Show you Kim’s painting, I’ll show you the class sample that Kim has just watched the video for:
Kim graciously shared progress photos of her painting in the private facebook group. (She gave me permission to repost her work here.) Here is what that post looked like:
Many students receive feedback regarding their posts whenever they need it. Way back in 2009, that is the service I decided to provide to every one of my workshop customers. I visit the Facebook group daily to offer guidance. I couldn’t be more proud of Kim with how her painting is coming along.
How fantastic is this?! Her painting is rich and her layering is glorious! We are talking about a few minor tweaks that she may make before this one is finished, but I think it is very fantastic!
Kim isn’t the only student taking the workshop techniques to her own process. There are many students in the group painting and learning with me, want to join us? There are 3 great workshops on sale now! Check out the class samples, check out the workshop catalogue and see which class interests you most. I’d love to work with you too!
