Vacation Day 3: The Yarn Shop and Tea House

Yarn-shoppe-2

Here we are in Port Orchard, Washington. As my glorious luck would have it, my cousin (who I just met for the first time) is part owner of a yarn shop... thank god. My knitting aint too pretty.

Julie-and-Joyce

Here I am with my cousin, Joyce, getting a rapid knit tutorial (You can market classes called, "Rapid Knit Tutorial, Joyce......no charge.) Most importantly, look at the beautiful yarns we are surrounded by! I was in heaven and came home with 5 skeins...

Yarn-shoppe

...including that turquoise skein of wool bliss on the top right.. can you stand it? Joyce gets me.. we have genetic arts and craps genes.... the knitting ladies in the shop however were a little curious when I mentioned I would be making an "installation".. ha.

Victorian-tea-house

Across the parking lot sits the "Victorian Tea House". I was so happy to find out that this restaurant served full sized people lunch instead of only "delicate lady" tea sandwiches. We had the most delicious curry chicken salad sandwiches and soup. No tea for me this visit.

Kate-Sundae

Parenting note: If your three year old is a grump and won't open up to your long lost cousin, serve her an ice cream sundae. Works every time.

I have vowed to show Joyce my improved knitting skills this time next year.... I can't wait to come back to the yarn shop!
